@NuketownSF: Guardians of the Galaxy, Stellaris, WW84, Immortal She-Hulk

A recap of NuketownSF’s tweets for the week of January 10, 2021.

COMICS & COFFEE | Guardians of the Galaxy 1 (2020) – Corrupted, power-mad Greek Gods from another universe invaded our galaxy; it’s up to Nova, Peter Quill, and the Guardians of the Galaxy to stop them.

GAMES | STELLARIS – Compelling 4X space empire game. Create a benevolent space federation, evil stellar empire, or galactic hive mind while experiencing some of the best science fiction stories (and music!) since Mass Effect. Just make sure you have a few hours (days?) to lose when you start playing it. Steam Store.

COMICS & COFFEE | Immortal She-Hulk 1 – Jen Walters, She-Hulk, died during EMYPRE, Marvel’s recent galactic mega-crossover. She’s back from the dead … but like her cousin Bruce Banner she’s discovering the unsettling horror of the Green Door, and the implications of gamma-fueled immortality. Doesn’t have the same innate dread of the initial IMMORTAL HULK run, but there’s potential. Marvel Fandom Wiki: Immortal She-Hulk

MOVIES | WW84 – Wonder Woman returns with a movie that begins like an episode of the 1980s series, complete with mall heist, but escalates quickly into bonkers, no that’s BONKERS!!! territory. There are great action sequences, and not-so-great ones demonstrating that some comic book villains are just plain silly when they appear in live-action. Is it worse than Green Lantern? No, but it’s definitely not as good as WW’s predecessor. IMDB: WW84.

COMICS & COFFEE | Guardians of the Galaxy, No. 3 (2020) – Peter Quill died saving the galaxy from an invasion of evil Greek gods. His teammates aren’t taking it well, leading to the creation of two opposing groups of Guardians.

GAMES | Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order – The button-mashing, don’t-think-too-hard game we need right now. Pull together heroes from the entire Marvel Universe to thwart Thanos and his quest for the Infinity Stones. Yes, you’ve seen this story before, but who cares? Build your favorite X-Team! Pull together the Spider-variants! Assemble the Avengers … and do it with up to 4 players in co-op mode. Nintendo game webpage.
