Gamers Helping Haiti

OneBookShelf, the company that runs the virtual RPG storefronts DriveThruRPG and RPGNow, is offering a $20 mega bundle as a fundraiser to help the survivors of the Haiti earthquake. Donate $20 to Doctors without Borders through the web site, and you’ll receive $1,500+ worth of PDFs. View complete list of products in the bundle, broken down by company. The bundle sale ends January 31, 2010.

As of 1/29/2010, they’ve raised $156,325.00 through this effort, which is pretty damn impressive given the size of the RPG cottage industry. The bundle has been immensely popular, and there in lies the rub. I ordered my bundle on Saturday, and got access to it on Wednesday. Another guy in my group ordered it on Monday, and is still waiting. Delays are inevitable given the popularity of the bundle, but it would be nice if they posted some sort of notice say that they’re running behind or updated their estimates on when people would get access to the product.

As for the bundle itself, it’s a hodgepodge of small publisher products with a few standouts from larger companies. Here are the stand outs for me:

Margaret Weis Games

  • Serenity RPG
  • Cortex RPG

These titles alone alone were enough for me to want to get the bundle.

Crafty Games

  • Spycraft 1st Edition
  • Shadowforce Archer 1st Edition

I loved 1st edition Spycraft, and harbor dreams of running it again someday…

Dork Storm Press

  • Dork Covenant

It’s Dork Tower — what’s not to love?

Open Game Table

  • Open Game Table – The Anthology of Roleplaying Game Blogs, Vol. 1

A good roundup of the best in RPG blog posts.

Pelgrane Press

  • Trail of Cthulhu Player’s Guide

My group’s interested in running Trail of Cthulhu; this seems like a good place to start.

Rogue Games

  • Thousand Suns: Foundation Transmissions
  • Thousand Suns: Transmissions from Piper

Source books for the imperial SF RPG and fodder for my Star Wars campaign.
