Easton Events in Fall 2017

Autumn in Easton, Pa. is packed with weekend events and festivals. The biggest of these is BaconFest, a two-day celebration of all things bacon, but there’s plenty of other stuff going on as well.

We’ve got the Riverside Festival of the Arts on September 16 and 17, 2017. The festival celebrates and highlights Easton’s local arts community with artists setting up booths in the park next to the Easton and Lehigh Rivers. There’s a juried art show, food vendors, and musical performances.

GarlicFest is October 7 and 8, 2017. The event’s motto is “Eat. Drink. Stink.”; expect lots of garlic-inspired food served up by a respectable list of local food vendors.

BaconFest is the Jupiter of food festivals in Easton, looming over everything else like a crispy, savory mountain of … well, bacon. Thousands of people attend this event, so much so that if you’re not going to BaconFest you should avoid the Easton downtown area at all costs. I’ve heard lots of great things about BaconFest, but never gone — that will change this year because I’ll be at the event with NeutronLad supporting Boy Scout Troop 3 (Boy Scouts love bacon and their known for selling their tasty bacon s’mores at the event).

Also of interest to me this year is the Racin’ Bacon! 5K event, which takes place during BaconFest. I’ve running for over a year now, and participating in a 5K race is something I’ve been thinking about for a long time. This seems like the perfect opportunity to do it (and hey, they give you a Weybacher beer if you run!)
