Forum Round-up: Action Dice, WWE, Spycraft 2.0, Atomic Swindlers, Zombies

by Ken Newquist / September 27, 2005

Nuketown's forums have been up since late August, and have been slowly gathering momentum. I'm still experimenting with ways to drive traffic to the forums, including linking to them from some of the articles on the main site, highlighting them in the newsletter and now this: a weekly round-up of notable conversations. I'll be doing one of these round-ups every Tuesday for the next month as an experiment; after that I'll assess how well it worked and adjust accordingly.

Action Dice in Your Fantasy Campaign? I'm thinking of introducing action dice into my Dungeons & Dragons campaign; this thread ask folks what they think of this game mechanic, which provides players with extra dice they can use to bail themselves out of bad situations or to pull off a particularly heroic stunt.

WWE: Know Your Role RPG CountZero started this thread to talk about the new OGL-based wrestling game. He provides an overview of the game, as well as thoughts on how much it'll appeal to non-wrestling fans.

Spycraft 2.0 The forum crew -- including CountZero and Scott -- offer their initial thoughts on the new edition of Alderac's epsionage/modern adventurer RPG.

Music & Audio

The Atomic Swindlers are excellent! A short discussion of the Atomic Swindlers, a glam rock band I reviewed on the podcast and on Nuketown a while back.

Movies, TV & DVDs

Zombie Honeymoon St. Terence started this thread discussing the dark comedy/zombie flick Zombie Honeymoon, in which a couple goes on their honeymoon only to have the groom get bitten by the undead ... and of course transform into a zombie himself. The transformation takes time though, and the movie sees him trying (and often failing) to fight his murderous impulses.
