CNN: Sun kills 60,000 a year, WHO says

Posted in by Kenneth Newquist on Thu, 07/27/2006 - 7:52am

This kind of mass carnage is unconscienceable , so I propose that we immediately begin a solar umbrella project to block out all of the sun's rays, thus saving the lives of these 60,000 people. Failing that, we must force everyone to stay in their houses, and establish a light-monitoring system to prevent dangerous overexposure to the sun's evil rays. Anyone who disagrees with me hates babies and puppies.

60,000 a year.

40,000 of which are in Arizona.

Heh. That would probably make more sense if I lived in Arizona. :) Here in Pennsylvania, no one actually dies from the heat. Rather, they all drown in the humidity, which is about to get much, much worse now that tomorrow is August...

Clearly, you're right. This national - no, global! - nightmare cannot be allowed to continue! I propose we establish a new Department of Solar Protection to co-ordinate these projects and the necessary regulation to curtail people's rights...umm... I mean protect them for their own misguided efforts to live their lives.
