Open Call for Uncle Bear's Gaming Podcast Project

Posted in by Kenneth Newquist on Fri, 06/30/2006 - 2:22pm

Berin at UncleBear.com is putting together a new gaming podcast project that looks at the intersections of gaming culture. He writes: "The premise is to do a series of interviews between gamers and non-gamers, between gamers of different tastes, or with non-stereotypical gamers". It sounds like a cool project, and sounds like it has the makings of an excellent documentary showing a slice of geek life that could even interest the normals.

For my part, I'm thinking of something documenting the intersections of gaming with family life, perhaps in the form of a conversation with my friend and fellow geek dad Lance, of the Day in the Life of a Gamer fame, about the challenges, surprises and rewards of being a parent who games. And maybe Mur from Geek Fu Action Grip would be interested in joining in to provide a geek mom perspective…

Ken, if you want to interview me, I suggest you first speak with my agent regarding the up-fronts and residuals. :)

Seriously, sounds great. You've been talking about occasionally doing something collaborative for Radio Active, and this project sounds like a good feet-wetting. We could play a "gamer dad with young ones" vs. "gamer dad with older gamer kid" prospective kinda thing?

Edit: Fame?!? Honestly, I think that you (and Jon?) are the only people who even read Ditlog, lol!

Here's Lance's comments on the whole Uncle Bear podcasting proposition. And don't forget to check out the ideas we've been kicking around over on the original Uncle Bear post.

Hey, small fame is still fame right? :) I think the young kids vs. old kids thing would work well. Some sort of round table as part of Nuke(m)Con would be cool too, perhaps on the dynamics of a 10-year-old gaming group.

And many thanks for being the first official commentor on the new Nuketown!
