You've got to love it when a minor lunchtime update turns into an evolving disaster that plunges ever deeper into the abyss of total chaos.
That pretty much sums up my Nuketown Forum update yesterday, in which I thought I'd be clever and do a quick update while I had a few minutes, and succeeded in pretty much just destroying the entire thing.
Not bad for a few minutes work.
So ... the forum was down. But now it's back up ... or at least, it appears to be. I had to revert to an earlier version of the board, and while that appears to be working, I had to hack it in order to get it to work properly (for some reason it keeps looking for a "phpbb_sessions_keys" table, which didn't exist under the old configuration, and wasn't installed with the new ... manually creating the table got the whole thing working again though).
I'm continuing to tinker with it, and hopefully will be able to complete the upgrade over the next week or so. While I mentioned earlier that I might get rid of the message board, I think I'll keep it around -- it's useful to be able to tinker with the non-mission critical Nuketown board rather than blowing away the much-more important GriffCrier message board, which is actually essential to the functioning of my gaming group.
