I found the "eat less, do more" diet works pretty well. I actually hit 200lbs back in March and decided enough. I cut my portion size in half, started walking or swimming and doing some strength exercises for the gut and back. Five months later, I'm at my target weight of 175. Stick with it and don't deny yourself the very occasional goodie, and you'll do fine.
