At the time I think it was just a bit of 3e/4e shock. I was so used to the DM rolling to "save", it was odd to have to make so many rolls to "hit". I understand why individual rolls need to be made... but this is just different and doesn't speed up the process at all.
And don't get me wrong, I like rolling dice... but it just seems odd to roll so many d20's. I'm sure I'll get used to it. My wizard has several area effect spells.
