Personally, I agree. The all-or-nothing approach, while it may be quicker, is ultimately going to lead to bad feelings (especially when the dragon breathes against the party, and everyone dies). Plus, it would negate each character's special advantages (better defenses in some categories than others, for example).

Still, the comment came up during the playtest, and I thought it was worth reporting on.
