rolling just once against a bunch of creatures still has the drawback of "i roll a 1" and "i roll a 20" since you can crit with everything, it becomes overpowering (like in SAGA) to roll a single 20 and crit multiple opponents when you SHOULD be rolling against each individual. that is a huge flaw in how to roll static defense.
