Sounds like you had a blast, and I agree with you on taking a day away from a bastion of geekness to 'come down' - Monday would have been a stretch.
And the ear pain? I hear you. We're halfway through the waiting period (only 3 months to go, woohoo Canadian health care!) for our boy Nathaniel to get tubes in his ears (we're struggling to find some alternatives) and we've just accepted he'll wake up screaming once or twice a night.
Tip: Drinking water helps, the swallowing action can internally massage the ears.
