Nuketown

The original Serenity system was well liked by myself and my gaming group, but I think the new rules set is much more robust. Combat is, indeed, deadly but with the plot points we've had characters do quite well under serious circumstances.

As pointed out, the setting is much more open for roleplaying opportunities than it might initially seem. Pre-invasion settings particularly would allow for a chance to create a living breathing setting for the players...before it all gets swept away by the Cylons. There are stories on the colonies after the attack, as we've seen. In addition to the guerrilla warfare plotlines, there could be the usual post-apocalyptic adventures -- crazies just looking to survive on the roadways of Caprcia, holed up in small isolated town battling each other, as well as the Cylons. You could have pirates on the oceans of Aquaria, looking to avoid detection by the toasters and fighting each other for spoils.

It's a strong setting, in my opinion.
