My group recently tested the Galactica RPG. We found the combat was fast but very easy, as with the Serenity RPG. Space combat went quickly, with two of the players taking on Sagittaron terrorists who had cobbled together mothballed MKII Vipers with more modern fighters. It was a close thing for them, but plot points and their assets aided them in turning the tide.
The "pilot episode" was set before the Cylon attack with the idea that establishing backgrounds, friends, and family for the characters would make the attack that much more of a turning point for the players.
Overall, the system is slick and effective. There's not a lot of chaff and the it runs without much need for checking the book. The setting is well covered, and is necessarily directed toward post-attack settings and military characters. That said, there's enough in book to do a prequel campaign.
