When we went in 1999-2001 I was posting actively to Greytalk (a listserv for the Greyhawk campaign setting), and Greyhawk itself was undergoing a resurgence. I ran into a surprising number of Greytalkers there who recognized my name from my badge (as well as a couple of my compatriots who were also frequent posters) which led to a bunch of impromptu conversations.
I'd also run into people from my old college gaming club (including my former college roommate). I'm sure it'll be different now, with so much time having passed, but I'm hoping I'll see some new friends there (like you and some of the podcasters I listen too regularly).
Heck, I might even have to get a Nuketown Radio Active t-shirt made ...
