Podcamp Philly

Posted in by Kenneth Newquist on Sat, 09/08/2007 - 12:14am

I'll be in Philadelphia today for Podcamp Philly at Drexel University.

In addition to meeting up with Doug of Geek Acres and some other Pennsylvania podcasters, I'm going to be attending a number of sessions; here's my tentative schedule:

  • 10 a.m.: Thinking Like a Producer: What we've learned so far making MarylandZoo.TV.
  • 11 a.m.: Your Podcast Statistics
  • 1 p.m.: Working with Major Corporate Sponsors
  • 2 p.m.: High Impact New Media
  • 3 p.m.: Introduction to Video Production Fundamentals

I'm hoping to post more once I get there, but we'll see what the wi-fi situation looks like.

No wifi (well, no accessible wi-fi) but there's guest access on PCs. I'm attending Second Life workshop, looking forward to hearing about what Drexel's doing with their Island. I'll be blogging over on the The Atomic Age as well, since it allows me to easily tag stories as belonging to Podcamp Philly 2007.

On the geek side of SL, there are audio book examples for J.C. Hutchin's "Proto-Womb" for Seventh Son and a game field for Scott Sigler's The Rookie. In education, there's Drexel Island.

Ah, and there's going to be a Podcamp Second Life follow-up in early 2008 ... which sounds like a damn good use of Second Life.
This conference, like GenCon, re-affirms that I need to get my act together with business cards, t-shirts and such. Bad form to show up without these in hand, and I've got a bunch more conferences and workshops coming up this year (both at work, and at home).
