Origin Awards 2008 Winners Announced

Posted in by Kenneth Newquist on Wed, 07/09/2008 - 5:30am

Various real-world conspiracies prevented me from attending Origins 2008 (almost none of them planned by Mighty Mur, or so she says...) but fortunately the folks there were nice enough to post the winners of their 2008 game awards to the Web

Of the games, supplements and accessories on the list, I only own one: the Call of Cthulhu Dice Set by Q-Workshop. They have quickly become my favorite set of dice to use at the table; partly because they role very, very well, and partly because I like looking at the Elder Signs (which replace the highest number on each die, so I see them fairly often).

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Aces & Eights won role-playing game of the year, but I shouldn't be -- everyone who's bought the game has raved about it, and it says something that two of the guys in my group bought copies of this $50 book at GenCon 2007. It says something else that Kenzer sold out of their initial print run.
